GISELA COLÓN is a Los Angeles-based Puertorrican abstract painter, whose work conflates the fire and ice of her mixed heritage.  Born to a German mother in Canada, but raised in her father's native Puerto Rico, COLÓN was exposed to art and the vibrant culture of the Caribbean from a very young age.  COLÓN learned about the wonders of creating art from her mother who was a remarkable landscape painter in Puerto Rico in the 1970's.  Through this eclectic and diverse environment, she learned to understand and appreciate art, became immersed in the craft of painting, and developed a keen eye for color, texture and composition.

COLÓN lived on the island of Puerto Rico until 20 years of age graduating University of Puerto Rico, magna cum laude, with a bachelor's degree in economics in 1987.    She then moved to Los Angeles to pursue graduate studies in law.  She was the recipient of a congressional scholarship award by the Harry S. Truman Foundation for her outstanding academic excellence.

COL
ÓN has exhibited nationally and internationally including at the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA), the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)'s ARS Gallery, and at galleries in Canada, Puerto Rico, New Mexico, Florida, and California.  COLÓN’s paintings are placed nationally and internationally by contemporary interior designers and art consultants in high-end residential, hospitality, corporate, and entertainment projects.  Her work has also been commissioned for specific installations.
